For those watching their waists, the holidays can be a stressful time. However, there is good news – most people do not gain much in that period where you might think. But the bad news is that weight gain during the holiday season turns into a unwanted gift that can not be returned.
Researchers from the National Institutes of Health and the Medical University of South Carolina studied 195 people and found that almost a year later, 85% of participants had not yet lost the extra weight. This means that even if only to gain two pounds during the holidays, if consistently year after year is 10 pounds heavier in just five years! The study also found that overweight and obese participants received the most weight during the holidays than other studies.
Don’t worry, you need to hibernate during the holidays to avoid packing on pounds. There are reasonable ways to change your behavior so that you can still have fun without becoming an unofficial member of the festival of weight gainers club.
Strive to five a day
Make sure you eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day. They contain fewer calories and more nutritious food more.
Indulgences, but can limit them
Preferably, allow your body to a cookie or a piece of cake per day. True to its limits. And remember that even once a day can request the indulgence to cut calories elsewhere or burn excess calories.
Give yourself an early gift
Make it a priority to make some kind of physical activity every day, no matter how brief. Exercise is an important factor in both preventing weight gain and weight loss. Sometimes the training program on time and leave no room for neglect.
Spend less time in the kitchen
Cooking for the holidays is a very pleasant experience for many, but is it really necessary to bake dozens of empty calories higher? Try to find some baking and cooking alternatives that still allow time for the fun of cooking with family and friends, but is more nutritious.
Do not over extend yourself
